Job summary

TridentCare in Brockton, MA seeks a part-time phlebotomy technician to assist with specimen collection, labeling, and requisition management. You will ensure accurate specimen tracking, proper PPE, and safe transport workflows to offsite labs.

The role supports weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, with a pay range based on experience. A high school diploma or GED is required, and knowledge of laboratory terminology is helpful for accurate specimen handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory terminology helpful.

Responsibilities

• Mark locations of testing on requisitions upon specimen arrival.
• Verify correct specimen, submit tube types, and ensure requisition details are complete.
• Ensure patient name, collection date/time, and phlebotomist P number are on requisition; attach bar codes to specimens.
• Notify and complete paperwork for redraws when needed (QNS, misspellings, mislabeled data, or missing specimen).
• Centrifuge specimens appropriately to obtain adequate serum or plasma for testing.
• Package coolers for shipment to offsite labs; handle 20-40 lb loads.
• Create air bills for flight shipments and communicate flight details to offsite labs.
• Route in-house specimens to correct lab benches and reference labs; manage tracker documentation.
• Wear PPE at all times to protect from infectious material.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
