New York City's Largest Dermatology Practice

We are a full-service dermatology practice with 50+ locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Delaware, and Philadelphia. The Dermatology Specialists is seeking a Lab Technician, Grossing Technician & Histotechnologist to prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Responsibilities also include staining tissue specimens with dyes or chemicals to visualize cell details under microscopes.

Other Tasks Include:

• Ensure proper specimen identification and accessioning
• Process test requests with specimens, enter orders, and follow policies for specimen acceptability
• Perform specimen embedding and microtomy
• Conduct H/E and special staining, prepare solutions
• Slide cover slipping and labeling
• Maintain, troubleshoot all equipment; tissue processors
• Participate in supply inventory management and ordering
• File blocks and slides, distribute slides
• Participate in QC/QA activities

Minimum Qualifications:

• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory histotechnician, histotechnologist, technician, or technologist
• An Associate’s Degree from a relevant program as defined by NYS licensing; high school diploma with experience and NYS license via grandparenting is acceptable
• 6 months to 1 year experience in a surgical pathology laboratory
• Exposure to computer systems
• Good communication skills

Required Licenses: Certified Histo Technician-NYS, Clinical Lab Technician-NYS, or Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS

Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 1pm-7pm, with potential weekend shifts

Job Type: Part-time, 20-30 hours/week, with potential to become full-time based on demand

Hourly Rate: $35-$49/hr, depending on experience

Location: Greenwich Village (GVD)
