Job summary

Ultima Genomics is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant in Carlsbad, CA to support the protein purification team. You will clean and inspect labware, ensure proper drying and documentation, and help maintain a compliant workflow in a fast-paced biotech setting.

The role is onsite and requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. This is ideal for life sciences students seeking hands-on biotech lab experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Laboratory washroom/cleanroom/GMP/GLP experience preferred.
• Careful, consistent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
• Reliable attendance on a set weekly schedule.

Responsibilities

• Wash 1-liter centrifuge bottles and associated labware using approved detergents and procedures.
• Inspect items for stress cracking, hazing, deformation, or scratches before reuse.
• Tag and retire labware that fails inspection; report recurring issues to purification team.
• Rinse with deionized water and dry per procedure; ensure no detergent residue remains.
• Keep wash area clean, organized, and stocked; return labware to designated locations.
• Maintain simple wash and inspection logs.
• Autoclave labware and maintain cycle records.
• Other duties as assigned.
