Job summary

College of Southern Nevada is seeking part‑time student assistants to support the OTS in the Henderson campus, providing front‑line lab coverage and helpdesk support to students, faculty, and staff. Training will be provided as part of CSN’s IT environment.

Ideal candidates are CSN students with basic computer skills and a willingness to learn; prior IT experience is not required. Roles may include lab, tech office, or both, with emphasis on hands‑on IT support and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students, faculty, and staff with basic computer, printer, account, and technology‑related questions.
  • Monitor the computer lab and help ensure equipment, workspaces, and technology resources are available and functioning properly.
  • Answer questions and direct students, faculty, and staff to appropriate resources when inquiries are made in person or by phone.
  • Assist OTS technicians with basic troubleshooting of hardware, software, printer, and network connectivity issues.
  • Assist with preparing, configuring, imaging, and deploying computers and other technology equipment.
  • Assist technicians with installing, transporting, securing, and cable‑managing computers and other technology equipment in classrooms, labs, and staff offices.
  • Assist with inventory, labeling, tracking, and organization of technology equipment and peripherals.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of equipment for surplus, salvage, moves, and other technology‑related activities.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas, including workbenches, storage areas, and office spaces.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and maintaining bench stock and technology supplies.
  • Maintain basic records of work performed and equipment handled.
  • Assist OTS staff with customer‑facing technical support and troubleshooting in lab, classroom, and office environments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Office of Technology Services (OTS) in Henderson campus at the College of Southern Nevada is seeking dependable, customer-focused individuals to provide part‑time support to our Technology Services team. This position is ideal for someone who has an interest in technology and wants to gain practical, hands‑on experience in an educational technology environment.


Candidates may have previous IT, customer service, or computer‑related experience, but prior professional IT experience is not required. Training will be provided on CSN's technology, tools, systems, and processes. Whether you are an IT student looking for practical experience or someone with a general interest in technology and a willingness to learn, this position provides an opportunity to develop valuable technical and customer service skills while supporting the CSN community.


Depending on the needs of the department and the candidate's skills and interests, this position may provide support in the computer lab, the technology office/back shop, or both.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Current CSN student pursuing or interested in pursuing a degree, certificate, or career in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a related field.

  • Previous experience working with computers, technology, or technical equipment.

  • Previous customer service, help desk, retail, or other public‑facing experience.

  • Successfully completed IS 101 or an equivalent computer/IT course.

  • Experience troubleshooting basic computer hardware or software issues.

  • Familiarity with Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, printers, or other common technology.

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, Microsoft, Apple, HDI, or other relevant certifications.

  • Previous employment, internship, volunteer, or classroom experience in an IT‑related environment.

  • Faculty or professional letter of reference.
