Job summary

Sylvan Learning is seeking a Part-time K–12 Math Tutor to work in-person and help students strengthen their math foundations. You may tutor elementary through high school topics, including basic math, algebra, geometry, and precalculus, with knowledge of statistics or calculus a plus.

Responsibilities include teaching, aligning with Sylvan’s curriculum, and tracking student progress while maintaining a supportive, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of math concepts across levels from basic to precalculus.
• Ability to explain steps clearly and guide students through problems.
• Experience tutoring or teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging math instruction to individuals or small groups up to four students.
• Teach assigned math concepts based on your areas of expertise.
• Help students understand classwork, homework, and challenging problems.
• Prepare students for tests and assessments.
• Follow Sylvan’s instructional methods and preplanned lessons.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving strategies.
• Adapt explanations to each student’s grade level and needs.
• Encourage students and build confidence in mathematics.
• Document student progress and complete instructional notes.
• Use tablets and instructional technology as required.
• Complete Sylvan training.
