Job summary

Sylvan Learning in Walnut Creek is seeking a Part-Time K-12 Math Tutor to help students strengthen mathematical understanding and confidence. Work with elementary through high school learners on topics from basic math to Algebra II, with Calculus knowledge a plus.

In this in-person role you will follow Sylvan curriculum, support classwork and test prep, and document progress. Strong math knowledge and reliable availability are essential; a bachelor's degree or teaching credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the mathematics levels the applicant wishes to teach.
• Ability to explain steps clearly and solve problems accurately.
• Capacity to work with up to three students with different lessons.
• Reliable communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging math instruction individually and in small groups.
• Teach concepts based on area of expertise and curriculum.
• Help students with classwork, homework, and tests.
• Prepare students for classroom assessments.
• Follow Sylvan's methods and preplanned lessons.
• Document student progress and required instructional notes.
• Use tablets and instructional technology as needed.
• Complete Sylvan training.
