Job summary

Nevada System of Higher Education CSN campus seeks a Part-Time Assistant/Tech for the Office of Technology Services to support students in the computer lab. You will assist with basic troubleshooting, guide software usage, and maintain lab readiness in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the lab manager or senior technicians, you will help with hardware/software issues, asset tracking, and setting up devices for classrooms.

Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service skills (in-person and/or remote).
• Knowledge of computers, office applications, and internet usage (additional training provided).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with calendar scheduling, internet searching, and document creation/editing.
• Ability to physically transport and maintain equipment, including work under desks.
• Must maintain academic standing as required for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the computer lab front desk with computer station and/or printer issues.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and network connectivity problems on campus.
• Configure equipment, inventory assets and peripherals, and maintain basic records of job activities.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of labs, office, and workbenches.
• Set up and image devices for bench stock and/or support engineers, including transporting, installing, securing, and cable management of devices in classrooms, labs, and staff offices.
• Perform bench stock inventory and reporting of all equipment.
• Assist with asset handling for surplus, salvage, moves, etc., under supervision of OTS staff.
• Assist support engineers with customer-facing situations, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues for faculty, staff, and students (on-site training provided).
• Answer questions and direct students, faculty, and staff to resources when inquiries are made.
