North Carolina A&T State University’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts seeks Part-Time Instructors for Fall 2026 to teach Theatre and Visual Arts, including introductory Theatre courses.

Candidates will teach face-to-face courses such as Acting for Non-Theatre Majors, participate in trainings, and collaborate with faculty to support a vibrant program. An MFA in Theatre Arts or closely related field is required.

Position Overview

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications for Part-Time Instructors for Fall 2026. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach courses in Theatre and Visual Arts.

Primary Purpose of Position

The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory courses in Theatre. Responsibilities include teaching face-to-face courses such as Acting for Non-Theatre Majors, and other courses as needed, attending training and/or review sessions, and contributing to a collaborative departmental environment. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The mission of the Theatre Arts Program is to provide excellent educational opportunities, culturally enriching activities, diverse and life-changing artistic experiences for our students, the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University campus community, Greater Greensboro, and the N.C. Triad Region. The Theatre Arts Program is ranked the No. 1 theatre program among HBCUs in North Carolina, and out of 34 HBCUs with theatre programs in the U.S., the program is ranked #3 in the nation, according to HBCU -Colleges.com.
