Job summary

South Brunswick Public Library is seeking an experienced, collaborative librarian to join the Information Services Department as a part-time librarian. The role involves assisting with reference, readers’ advisory, information literacy, and using library resources at the Information Desk.

The schedule includes every other Sunday and one weekday evening, with potential fill-in hours. Fluency in another language is a plus; Polaris/LEAP knowledge is valued. Starting rate is $32.98/hour.

Qualifications

• MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program and NJ Pub Library Certification, or enrollment in a graduate program.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Knowledge of reference and reader’s advisory services.
• Willing to assist with catalog, digital resources, and public computers.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference, readers’ advisory, and information literacy assistance.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere at the Information Desk.
• Assist patrons with library materials and reference resources.
