Job description

Overview

The Whippanong Library in Whippany, NJ, seeks a tech-savvy, customer service-oriented, part-time Reference Librarian to join its team. The library serves the community of Hanover Township which includes the towns of Whippany and Cedar Knolls.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patrons in finding print and non-print material
• Assisting patrons in using internet, databases, other digital resources, and Microsoft Office
• Answering reference questions on a wide range of topics and difficulty
• Keeping up-to-date with current technology
• Providing readers advisory for patrons
• Providing occasional back-up at the Circulation Desk

Hours

Tuesdays 9 AM – 12 PM, Thursdays 5 - 8 PM and the 1st and 3rd Saturday 9 AM - 1 PM.

A total of 32 hours a month with opportunity for more hours as needed.

Qualifications

MLS or MLIS degree and a Professional Librarian’s Certificate. Schedule flexibility and familiarity with Koha ILS system is a plus. Hourly salary is $30 an hour with earned time-off benefits included.
