Job summary

Piscataway Public Library is hiring a part-time Adult Services Librarian to provide reference and customer service at the Kennedy and Westergard Libraries. The role supports outreach, develops adult programs, and contributes to collection development.

The successful candidate will hold an MLS/MLIS (NJ certification preferred) and bring strong communication and technology skills to help patrons of all ages.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program; NJ certification preferred.
• Experience in customer service, reference, and technology assistance.
• Clear, courteous communication with patrons and staff; ability to use library automation software and G-Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and readers’ advisory with a welcoming demeanor.
• Assist at Kennedy and Westergard Libraries; support outreach and programs.
• Instruct on information literacy and technology skills to individuals and groups.
• Develop and present adult programs; participate in collection development.
• Create and maintain book displays; represent the library at events.
• Promote services via website and social media; participate in professional activities.
