Job summary

Hopkins Public Schools seeks a part-time Inclusion Assistant to support the Kids & Company program and out-of-school-time activities, prioritizing students with special needs in the program.

The role involves implementing inclusion plans, assisting with intake data (IEPs), and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment across school sites. Hours are 2-4 per day, before/after school, at five elementary schools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year experience working with school-age children.
  • At least 3 months experience with children with special needs.
  • Additional training in a child-related area or 12 college credits or ParaPro exam.
  • Individual PCA training or completion at time of hire.
  • CPI and/or Restrictive Hold procedure training or completion at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and promote the Kids & Company mission and values.
  • Assist in planning developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy environment following district guidelines.
  • Demonstrate and teach appropriate social skills through curriculum and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist with intake processes for students with special needs, including data gathering (IEPs) and observations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with staff, students, and families.
  • Communicate openly with families, staff, and community partners.
  • Support district mission by fostering a cooperative workplace.
