Job summary

Ford Ice Center Bellevue is seeking a Part-Time Ice Technician to support facility operations. The role reports to the Facility Operations Manager and requires availability for nights, mornings, weekends, and holidays.

You will help with ice preparation, equipment upkeep, and event setup, including cleaning, repairs, and pre/post-event inspections. Previous ice resurfacer experience is preferred; driving history must be suitable for insurance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions and complete standardized checklist forms.
• Previous experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice edger preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work long and/or irregular hours including nights, mornings, weekends and holidays.
• Subject to a background check, driving history and character references.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Organization’s carrier.

Job Title: Part-Time Ice Technician

Status: Non-exempt

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Participates in the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of the facilities, grounds and equipment for operations at one or more of the Ford Ice Centers.
• Participate in set-up and disassembly of hockey glass, dasher boards, party rooms, locker rooms and other event related equipment.

• Preventative maintenance and repair of facility.
• Perform pre/post event inspections and document with completed checklists
• Perform cleaning and maintenance on operations department equipment, keep work areas and equipment organized and functional.
• Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events. Duties include: removing debris; checking ice depths; scraping, edging and resurfacing the ice.

Candidates with no previous Ice Resurfacer experience will be hired as a Rink Technician. Upon successful completion of training and demonstrated proficiency, candidates will then be promoted to Ice Technician. Candidates must also possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Organization’s insurance carrier.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions and complete standardized checklist forms.
• Previous experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice edger preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work long and/or irregular hours including nights, mornings, weekends and holidays.
• As a condition of employment, a qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, including criminal history check, driving history and character references.
• Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Organization’s insurance carrier.

Essential Physical Functions:

• Good physical condition and health, sufficient strength and stamina needed for heavy, awkward and repeated lifting of up to 75 pounds, capable of performing heavy manual labor for an extended period.
• Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to climb portable and fixed ladders, access remote areas of the facility, working with hand and power tools, reading and comprehending blueprints and drawings.
• Communicating via portable radio.
• Ability to work with and around water and ice and to work at or below freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.

Equipment Used:

• Zamboni Ice re-surfacers, Zamboni ice edgers, and other ice maintenance equipment.
• PC and other general office equipment.
• Various power and hand tools.
• Motor vehicles (company truck), and other light duty machinery.
