Job summary

Delta Center is seeking a part-time Ice Operations Assistant at the Sandy, UT facility. You will maintain and operate a fast, hard, and smooth ice surface and assist with NHL game-day duties at Delta Center. The role offers $20/hour compensation and opportunities to work NHL games.

Responsibilities include operating ice resurfacers, setting up practices and events, and ensuring nets, glass, and boards are in good condition. Prior rink experience and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must have ice rink experience and be able to operate resurfacing equipment.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and MVR screening.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operate ice resurfacer safely and promptly to maintain a high quality ice sheet.
• Set up practice sessions and nets, clear marsh peg holes, and assist with gear and boards.
• Clean glass and Zambonis, assist during intermissions, and help with on-ice events as needed.
• Record maintenance and operation data in Sub-Zero application and report incidents.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is for Ice Operations at the Utah Mammoth practice facility in Sandy, UT. Persons are responsible for maintaining and operating a fast, hard, and smooth ice surface. This position also offers the opportunity to work NHL games at Delta Center. This position is part-time and offers a compensation of $20/hour.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sandy Practice Rink

• Operate ice re-surfacer in a safe timely manner.
• Set-up NHL team practices (clear marsh peg holes, set nets).
• Maintain ice re-surfacers to run smoothly in order to provide best ice sheet possible (blade changes, grease points, circle checks, cleaning out augers).
• Maintain hockey nets making sure there are no holes and the net is tight.
• Maintain glass and boards to be clear of puck marks and scratches.
• Assist in glass change when needed.
• Set up ice events (youth hockey, figure skating, sled hockey, open skate).
• Record ice maintenance, ice resurfacer maintenance, circle check, plant hours, depth checks etc. into Sub-Zero application.
• Assist with building operations when needed.
• Interact with the public with a good attitude and smile on your face.
• Report any incident to Assistant Ice Manager and Ice Operations Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Delta Center Game Day

• Clean Glass, clean Zambonis, assist if needed with depth check readings, clear marsh peg peg holes, and walk nets/set into place Clean augers/fill Zambonis, move nets during intermission/clean out peg holes while Zambonis are on the ice, check for any abnormalities in ice (deep skate rut marks, missed Zamboni spots on a pass).
• Assist Ice Operations Manager with anything needed during the game (glass change, blood spill, net reconstruction, shovel crew) Remove nets from ice and put into storage spot, fill peg holes with snow, clean up Zamboni door area, put tools away, pick up rubber/chairs when going into changeover.
• Protect the reputation of the company.

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
• Previous ice rink experience required, rink certifications encouraged.
• Minimum 2 years of experience safely operating ice resurfacing equipment, floor scrubber, scissor lift, and forklifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
• This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
• This person must be able to lift 75 lbs.
