Timken is seeking a Part-Time HR Administrative Assistant to support a wide range of human resources activities from onboarding to payroll questions. You will advocate for associates, maintain visibility across teams, and assist with recruitment, training, and open enrollment.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and standard procedures.
  • Assist with recruitment activities including phone screens and interviews.
  • Assist onboarding: offers, I-9 verification, new hire forms, files, and badges.
  • Prepare materials for new hire orientation.
  • Answer payroll and benefits questions and interpret policies.
  • Monitor timecards and report to staffing agencies weekly.
  • Track data in spreadsheets (attendance, discipline, etc.).
  • Participate in associate relations issues, investigations, and coaching.
  • Provide guidance on medical leave (FMLA) and disability.
  • Coordinate and assist with company events and open enrollment.

Job Title: HR Administrative Assistant

Overall Purpose: To promote positive associate relations by serving as an associate advocate, communicating frequently with associate groups through multiple channels, and maintaining a high amount of visibility with the associates across TRS-NA.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work.
  • Assist with recruitment activities such as scheduling and conducting phone screens, on-site interviews, and attending job fairs.
  • Able to assist with all aspects of on-boarding such as preparing offer letters, processing new hire forms, assembling new associate files, verifying I-9 documentation, entering new hires into the system, and ordering badges.
  • Prepare materials and conduct portions of new hire orientation.
  • Answers or assists with payroll and benefits questions as well as policy interpretation.
  • Monitors associate timecards and submits contingent time to staffing agencies on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for tracking various types of data on spreadsheets including attendance, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Participates in associate relations issues, workplace investigations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary process under the guidance of the HR manager.
  • Gives guidance to associates needing medical leave such as FMLA, or short and/or long-term disability.
  • Conducts training for selected topics at NA Rail sites.
  • Takes a leading role in the oversite of hourly cross-training programs.
  • Assists with annual open enrollment.
  • Helps plan and assists with company events including ordering lunches, booking conference rooms, and on-site vendor coordination.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate with a high amount of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Knowledge of HR related areas including compensation, benefits, employment law, and training
  • Candidates must have good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present in front of large groups.
  • Able to act independently and manage various projects from initiation to completion
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, sitting, twisting, bending, hand gripping, typing, data entry
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Vision must be normal (20/20). Correctional lenses are acceptable.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Loud manufacturing environment, exposure to metals, machine lubricants, rust preventative, and other process chemicals, seasonal cold/heat.

Protective Clothing and Personal Devices:

  • Safety glasses, safety gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection.
