Job summary

Sage-Haus in Portland, OR seeks a dedicated House Manager & Family Assistant to support a busy family with two active boys and two small dogs. This part-time role (15–20 hours/week) runs Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00 AM–3:00 PM with some flexibility.

You’ll manage household routines, coordinate errands, meals, laundry, and safe child-focused tasks with discretion. Ideal candidates are proactive, highly organized, and communicate clearly.

Qualifications

• Maintain a smoke-free environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation with mileage reimbursement.
• Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the day.
• Vaccinations up to date per AAP/CDC guidelines including COVID-19 and influenza.

Responsibilities

• Occasional school drop-offs and pickups as needed (primary parent remains lead).
• Light supervision and backup childcare, including occasional date night coverage.
• Occasional snack preparation for kids.
• Kid-related errands as they come up.
• House and dog sitting when the family is traveling.
• Create and maintain household organization systems.
• Daily resets and preparation for cleaning crew.
• Light tidying throughout the day: dishes, surfaces, and high-traffic areas.
• Seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps.
• Coordinate and prepare donation drop-offs.
• Event, holiday, and guest prep support.
• Water indoor plants weekly.
• Breakdown and disposal of boxes.
• Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
• Weekly linen rotation for sheets and towels.
• Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
• Partner with mom to plan the menu and batch cooking and preparation of healthy dinners (3–4 per week) and breakfast for kids.
• Kitchen cleanup and general maintenance.
• Maintain grocery list and put groceries away after family-managed deliveries.
• Restock pantry, refrigerator, and household supplies.
• Manage running household supply lists.
• Manage and organize Amazon, Costco, and Walmart orders and subscriptions, including returns.
• Occasional returns and gift shopping.
• Periodic deep cleaning tasks (refrigerator, oven, baseboards, humidifiers, air purifiers).
• Refresh high-traffic areas (garage, mudroom, entry).
• Organizational projects for toys, gear, and storage areas.
• Coordinate and oversee contractor visits and repairs.
• Research vendors and gather quotes for household projects.
• Source and onboard housekeeping staff.
• Manage outdoor spaces - dust off furniture, store shoes and toys.
• Daily feeding, water checks, and nature breaks for two small dogs.
• Daily waste removal, pad changes, and freshening spaces.
• Occasional walks and potty patrol.
• Maintain pet supply inventory.
