Responsibilities

• Examines, tests, diagnoses and administers remedial treatments for patients with speech disorders.
• Evaluates receptive and expressive language, speech fluency, articulation, and swallowing disorders.
• Maintains communication with patient regarding progress and home programs.
• Follows department policies and safety standards.
• Discusses patient care with other specialists and notifies changes to treatment plans.
• Prepares documentation such as evaluation results and treatment plans.
• Develops and maintains long and short term treatment goals and re-evaluates as needed.
• Gathers data to assess communication impairment and prognosis.
• Consults with physicians on patient progress and maintains records.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of all age groups.
• Performs duties for adolescents through older adults.
