Job summary

UPMC Jameson in New Castle, PA seeks a Pharmacy Technician, Associate for a part-time role with day and afternoon shifts and occasional overnights. You may travel to Shenango Valley as needed and weekend/holiday rotation is required. Hospital pharmacy and IV prep experience are favored.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
• Six to 12 months of previous pharmacy technician experience required.
• Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
• Enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locations.
• If working in a New York facility, must have certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy program (CPhT) and be registered with the New York State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Develop and maintain a clean, organized, adequately stocked work environment.
• Practice hand hygiene in the pharmacy and units.
• Ensure medications are stored according to regulations and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, FWA, CMS.
• Maintain and update inventory, automate med stations, and CRMs.
• Use computer systems to process patient information and records.
• Maintain documentation such as logs and perpetual inventories.
• Demonstrate accuracy in maintaining controlled substance records and distribution.
• Audit and maintain records for controlled substances according to regulations.
• Provide information to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Assist in training pharmacy personnel and students.
• Finalize sales using cash register and follow cash handling policies.
