Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian Campus is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in inpatient and OR settings. The role emphasizes accurate medication filling, sterile preparation, and adherence to regulatory standards to ensure high quality patient care.

The position focuses on evening shifts with every third weekend, collaborating across teams to optimize medication distribution, documentation, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filling medication orders with correct labeling, counting, and stocking.
• Assist in the preparation of oral and injectable medications, including intravenous admixtures and TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) for the correct patient at the appropriate time.
• Participate in the distribution of medication including medication cassettes, emergency carts, and delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state/federal requirements.
• Maintain accurate controlled substance records and the distribution process, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Audit and maintain records for controlled substances; ensure storage and dispensing complies with Federal/State laws.
• Maintain documentation such as eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, and perpetual inventory logs; comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and CMS requirements.
