Job summary

Forefront Dermatology in Wisconsin is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare tissue specimens for dermatopathologist review. This part-time role covers 24 hours weekly (Wed, Thu, Fri, 3pm–11:30pm) with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities include grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, slide labeling, QC, and maintaining accurate records in a compliant lab environment. Qualified candidates will have an associate degree, NAACLS histology training, HT ASCP eligibility, and strong

Qualifications

• Associate degree required
• Completion of NAACLS histology program required
• HT ASCP certification or eligibility within one year of hire required
• CLIA requirements preferred: coursework in lab tech topics
• 2+ years histology experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform complex histology procedures using a variety of techniques.
• Accession tissue specimens.
• Receive and prepare tissue specimens.
• May perform grossing and inking (dependent on agency requirements).
• Prepare media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
• Process tissue, embedding, microtomy/cutting, staining, use cryostat, freezing.
• Label and prepare slides.
• Perform quality control on completed slides.
• Identify problems that may affect diagnosis and results.
• Examine slides under the microscope to detect deviations from the norm and report abnormalities.
• Preserve and store samples.
• Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides.
• Maintain lab supplies inventory.
• Maintain documentation in CLIA-required QA/QC logs.
• Adhere to compliance training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
