Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse for the Outpatient Hematology/Oncology unit. This part-time role (24 hours/week) runs 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with onsite responsibilities in Akron. The position emphasizes family-centered pediatric nursing, leadership, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include a BSN, active Ohio RN license, BLS, and at least 1 year of experience preferred. May require mentoring, precepting, and IT-system usage such as EPIC.

Qualifications

• BSN required or within 5 years from date of hire
• Current BLS certification required
• Active Ohio RN license (MSL if applicable) within 90 days of hire for certain units
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• Multistate license may be required for telehealth services

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care with family-centered focus
• Provide care for pediatric patients across developmental stages
• Demonstrate leadership and mentor clinical staff
• Perform patient-centered, safe, and evidence-based care
• Engage in quality improvement and safety activities
• Support providers and promote interprofessional collaboration
• Utilize informatics and technology in patient care
• Possibly rotate to areas within Akron Children’s Hospital as needed
• Maintain strong communication with families and team members
• Perform other duties as required
