Job summary

BPCC is seeking a qualified Part-Time Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Instructor to provide classroom and hands-on instruction for students preparing for careers in the heavy equipment industry at the Natchitoches Campus.

The instructor will deliver high-quality training in the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, and productivity of a variety of heavy equipment while fostering a positive learning environment that prepares students for entry-level employment.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of verifiable experience operating heavy equipment in construction, utility, mining, forestry, or related industry.
• Knowledge of safe operating procedures and equipment maintenance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and practical instruction in heavy equipment operation, safety, and maintenance.
• Demonstrate proper operation of equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and other construction equipment.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, industry safety standards, and BPCC policies.
• Develop lesson plans, administer assessments, and evaluate student performance.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and training documentation.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Promote professionalism, workplace readiness, and safe work habits.
• Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement activities as requested.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
• Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
