Qualifications

  • Verifiable experience as a heavy equipment operator on machines such as motor graders, dozers, wheel loaders, scrapers, excavators, and compactors.
  • Ability to instruct students in heavy equipment operation and equipment maintenance/repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student population and fellow employees, and to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and machine repairs in the field under challenging conditions.
  • Ability to prepare repair and maintenance documentation and file related reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction for students in the basic principles of heavy equipment operation, pre-start procedures, and safety practices.
  • Maintain and repair trucks, heavy equipment, and support vehicles used in the program.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and insure safety of self and others on projects and in work areas.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds, including in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate reliability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
