Professional Alternatives is seeking a Part-Time Staff Accountant to provide general ledger and month-end support with a flexible schedule. The role is onsite with one work-from-home day per week during active weeks and starts within 1–2 weeks.

The position focuses on month-end close, posting journal entries, maintaining reconciliations, and handling prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and recurring accruals with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Solid general ledger accounting experience with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines during month-end close.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to quickly step into an established accounting process.
• Ideal for part-time flexibility, including parents returning to the workforce or professionals with other scheduling commitments.

Responsibilities

• Provide month-end close support during approximately two weeks each month, typically during the last/first or first/second week of the month.
• Prepare and post basic general ledger journal entries and maintain related account reconciliations.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and ensure accounts are properly supported.
• Manage prepaid expense schedules and record monthly amortization entries.
• Maintain fixed asset activity, including additions and related accounting entries.
• Prepare and post recurring accruals and standard monthly entries, including fixed monthly expenses.
• Assist with general accounting activities and other month-end projects as needed.
