Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY seeks a Part-time GIST Lab Assistant to support and maintain the Geospatial lab, assist students with GIS projects, and aid in lab operations.

The role includes tutoring both in-person and remotely, helping with software maintenance, and coordinating with faculty for GIS trainings. This grant-funded position emphasizes organization and outreach, with a typical 16–20 hour weekly schedule for Fall and Spring 2026-2027.

Formación

• Earned a bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Advanced knowledge in geospatial technology: web mapping, geospatial programming with Python, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and data acquisition/management.
• Proficient with ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.

Responsabilidades

• Work with students one-on-one to support them through GIS labs and projects.
• Provide geospatial support and troubleshoot where students are having difficulty with their lab/project.
• Mentor students with GIS career possibilities.
• Outreach to local organizations each semester.
• Support GIS software maintenance and lab organization.
• Train small groups of faculty/staff on GIS basics each semester.
• Manage MCC GIST student Esri usernames and passwords.
