Job summary

The part-time Gallery Assistant role in Downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea supports a growing art business. The position offers a friendly, art-focused environment with flexible scheduling and hands-on involvement in gallery presentation, events, and community outreach.

Compensation is $17.50 per hour with an approximate 4 hours per week commitment. Ideal candidates are dependable, proactive, and enthusiastic about art, with some experience in photography, social media, or retail sales.

• Inventory & organization: organize artwork and products, check inventory, and assist with product preparation.

• Website & product updates: organize product information and keep listings current.
• Community outreach & promotion: research partnerships and events to raise gallery visibility.
• Special projects & events: assist with exhibitions, workshops, and other creative projects.

I’m looking for a reliable, organized, and creative part-time gallery assistant to help support my growing art business in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. I’m the2026 Best Local Artist winner, awarded by Monterey County Weekly.

Responsibilities include:

• Inventory & Organization:Organize artwork and products, check inventory, and assist with product preparation.
• Customer Service & Sales:Help welcome visitors, answer questions, and assist with art and product sales.
• Social M edi a & Content Creation:Capture photos and short videos of artwork, new arrivals, gallery activities, and events for Instagram and other social m edi a platforms.
• Website & Product Updates:Help organize product information, update website listings, and keep inventory and product details current.
• Community Outreach & Promotion:Research potential partnerships, local events, and promotional opportunities to increase gallery visibility and connect with the community.
• Special Projects & Events:Assist with preparations for exhibitions, workshops, art events, and other creative projects.
• Gallery Presentation:Help maintain an organized, attractive, and welcoming gallery environment.

Ideal Candidate

Someone who is dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, friendly, and enthusiastic about art and creativity. Good communication and organizational skills are important. Experience with Instagram, photography, short-form video, Canva, website updates, or retail sales is a plus.
