Job summary

Food Lion in Palmyra, VA seeks a friendly front-end team member to provide fast, accurate service at the register and assist with front-end operations. You will greet customers, process transactions, bag items, and maintain a clean, organized checkout area.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience
• Greet each customer and use their name whenever possible
• Unload groceries from cart to belt and group items for bagging
• Check cart bottoms and under baby seats for items
• Follow proper bagging procedures and bag types
• Scan orders and handle payments per standard practice
• Follow cash-handling procedures and overrides
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take orders to their car
• Maintain a neat and clean front end and station area
• Report register malfunctions to management
• Ensure MVP savings center KIOSK is stocked and working
• Adhere to all company guidelines and safety standards
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and notify QA of issues
• Complete CBT and training aids and perform other duties as assigned
