Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Front End Associate to provide fast, friendly service and maintain the front-end area. You will greet customers, handle cash transactions, assist with bagging and checkout procedures, and help ensure a positive store experience.

The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to learn multiple tasks, and adherence to company standards. Training is provided, and eligibility may include varied shifts and part-time hours.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and the technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform cashier and service center duties.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience
• Greet each customer and use their name when possible
• Unload groceries from cart to belt for bagging efficiency
• Check the bottom of every cart and under baby seats for items before completing an order
• Follow correct bagging procedures for bag type
• Scan orders and handle payment transactions per standard practice
• Avoid personal conversations with associates when customers are present
• Follow cash handling procedures, coupons, gift cards, and vouchers
• Follow refund and error-correction procedures
• Maintain accurate cash control
• Follow procedures and performs overrides
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take the order to their car
• Maintain alertness and summon help to service customers per standards
• Check prices quickly and accurately
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge on duty
• Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot and use cart corrals
• Ensure the front end area is neat and clean
• Report register malfunctions to management
• Ensure MVP savings center kiosk is stocked and functional
• Adhere to all company guidelines and safety standards
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions
• Notify QA of cleaning issues or maintenance needs
• Complete CBT and training aids
• Perform all other duties as assigned
