Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a part-time helper to support Corps operations in Waterloo, IA. The role involves collecting donations, serving meals, and maintaining safe, sanitary kitchen and storage areas.

You will interact with donors, assist with food preparation, supervise volunteers, and ensure compliance with safety and background checks. High school diploma or GED preferred and a valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Drive Salvation Army truck/van to collect donations as scheduled.
• Distribute donations to appropriate departments and programs.
• Oversee safe loading/unloading and vehicle safety.
• Interact with donors in a positive, professional manner.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment as approved.
• Assist with weekly food preparation and meal service while following health standards.
• Provide leadership in kitchen operations when needed and manage leftovers.
• Maintain sanitation across kitchen, dining, storage, and cold/frozen areas.
