Overview
A floor tech, also known as a floor care technician or a custodian, is an important member of the Indy Fiber team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of floors in various facilities.
Primary responsibilities
- Stripping, waxing, and buffing floors
- Cleaning and sanitizing floors and carpets
- Operating floor machines, such as buffers, scrubbers, and carpet extractors
- Maintaining supplies and inventory
- Following safety procedures
Secondary responsibilities
- Cleaning restrooms, lobbies, and other areas
- Emptying trash and recyclable bins
- Responding to requests for technical assistance
- Performing minor maintenance and repairs
- Assisting with moving furniture and equipment
Skills required
- Knowledge of floor care cleaning techniques
- Ability to use floor care equipment correctly and safely
- Attention to detail and organization
- Strong communication and customer service orientation
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Physical stamina and strength
Work considerations: Floor techs may face hazardous conditions and chemicals, require the ability to work long or late hours, and need schedule flexibility to accommodate client needs.
