Job summary

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Part-time Fleet Services Facility Lot/Building Technician to work 25 hours per week. Duties include light building maintenance on the lot and in the fleet building, keeping vehicles presentable and the lot orderly, and preparing out-of-service vehicles for auction.

Additional tasks include transporting vehicles to vendors for repairs, picking up parts locally, and other duties as directed. Work hours may extend outside normal hours as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the care and safe operation of both manual and power tools and equipment used in building maintenance, vehicle cleaning and prepping tasks.
• Knowledge of general materials, methods, equipment, and procedures employed in buildings and grounds maintenance work.
• Knowledge of operating various motor vehicles and equipment and have a valid driver’s license with no moving violations.
• Ability to maintain basic vehicle reports.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise work, meet deadlines, and make decisions based on established procedures and policies.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform light building maintenance on the lot and in the fleet building.
• Maintain the appearance of vehicles and ensure the orderliness of the vehicle lot.
• Prepare out of service vehicles for auction.
• Assist in transporting vehicles to outside vendors for repairs.
• Pick up parts from various parts stores in the local area.
• Perform other duties as directed or as the situation dictates.
