Job summary

The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs to join the Southern Pines Fire Department. You will provide fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical services to the community.

Qualified applicants must hold NC Firefighter and EMT-B certifications; additional NC Driver/Operator Pumps and NFPA 1006, along with Confined Space/Trench Rescue credentials, are preferred. The selection includes agility, written testing, and background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• North Carolina Firefighter Certification.
• North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
• NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification.
• Technical Rescuer Certification - NFPA 1006 (2013).
• Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.
• Operate fire and rescue equipment effectively during emergency incidents.
• Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities.
• Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures.
• Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.
