Job summary

The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated part-time Firefighters/EMTs to join the Southern Pines Fire Department. You will respond to emergencies, operate equipment, and perform station and equipment maintenance.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, NC Firefighter and NC EMT-B certifications. Selection includes agility testing, a written knowledge test, and background checks. The Town is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• North Carolina Firefighter Certification is required.
• North Carolina EMT-B Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.

• Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities.
• Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures.
• Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.

Qualifications:

• Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • North Carolina Firefighter Certification.
  • North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
• Preferred:
  • NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification.
  • Technical Rescuer Certification - NFPA 1006 (2013).
  • Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.

Selection Process:

Qualified applicants must:

• Successfully complete the department’s physical agility test.
• Pass a written general knowledge test.
• Undergo a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
