Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking a Fire Inspector I/II to perform fire inspections of occupancies, including low-to-medium hazard sites, in alignment with city codes and safety programs.

The recruitment will fill a part-time vacancy at either level, and may be used to create a list for future vacancies. Candidates must meet minimum qualifications and may be required to obtain/state certifications and licenses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in fire prevention or related inspections, including one year in medium-hazard occupancies.
• Or one year as a City of Mesa Fire Inspector Trainee with promotion criteria completed.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire inspections of occupancies per city codes and regulations.
• Deliver safety programs on fire safety, housekeeping, and detectors.
• Conduct origin and cause investigations as assigned (where applicable).
• Maintain certifications and participate in standby/call-out activities as needed.
