Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. is seeking a part-time Fire Safety Specialist to support inspections and code enforcement in the Tampa area.

The role involves conducting fire safety inspections, reviewing plans, issuing violations, and coordinating with property owners and contractors. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field and two years of fire service or building code experience, with a valid Florida driver’s license and Fire Safety Inspector I certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field and two years of experience in fire service or building code.
Equivalent education/training/experience combinations may be considered.
Valid driver’s license required.
State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector I Certificate required.
CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Conducts fire safety inspections of new and existing buildings and facilities; assist with plan reviews.
Issues code violations and conducts re-inspections to ensure corrective measures are taken.
Investigates complaints related to fire hazards and safety violations.
Serves as a liaison with property owners, contractors, and the public to explain code requirements.
Reviews and documents inspections during construction, alteration, or repairs.
Maintains accurate and timely inspection records in accordance with Department policy.
Supports community outreach programs, fire prevention campaigns, and training events.
Projects a positive image and promotes public safety awareness.
May participate in special projects, department goals, and operational planning.
Operates Department vehicles and equipment in compliance with Department and state regulations.
Participates in briefings, meetings, seminars, and training to stay updated on policy and regulatory changes.
