Job summary

West Texas A&M University seeks a Part-Time Field Supervisor to observe teacher candidates and provide constructive feedback to help develop effective educators. The role requires TEA-approved training, documentation, and collaboration with districts and the Educator Preparation Program.

The position supports fall and spring semesters, with limited weekly hours and travel within a 100-mile radius. Compensation includes per-observation pay and mileage reimbursement, aligned to WT’s education

Qualifications

• Valid certification in the supervising class
• Hired by the educator preparation program (EPP)
• Three years of creditable experience and current certification
• Participation in TEA-approved T-TESS Field Supervisor Observation training
• Active/expired TEA appraiser training certificates accepted for records
• Preferred: Texas Instructional Leadership training

Responsibilities

• Conduct formal observations (min 45 minutes) and post-conferences
• Perform informal walkthrough observations with time credits
• Provide written evaluation feedback to candidates, mentor, and administrator
• Complete TEA Field Supervisor training and obtain certificate
• Travel within 100-mile radius; submit mileage for reimbursement
• Support 8–14 candidates per semester; max 19 hours/week
• Submit required documentation and prepare for postings
• Coordinate with EPP and field placement offices
