Job summary

Marquette University in Milwaukee invites applications for an adjunct instructor to supervise field placement in Social Studies and English for fall 2026. This part-time university supervisor role supports our teacher education program at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities include observing field students in classrooms, evaluating learning, maintaining accurate records, and providing individualized feedback while upholding professional standards and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.
• Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree and certification in the subject matter and grade level(s) to be supervised.
• At least three years of K-12 teaching experience.
• Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.
• Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.
• Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be supervised.
• Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K-12 school personnel and students.

Responsibilities

• Observe field students in person three times each in classroom-based setting.
• Evaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods and School of Education program evaluation system.
• Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning student accountability, attendance, and performance.
• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
• Provide individual consultation and feedback to assigned field students.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.
