Job summary

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking a UTTR Field Manager on a part-time basis (28 hours/week) to support wildlife surveys, environmental monitoring, and field data collection at the Utah Test and Training Range.

The role works with full-time and student technicians, coordinates crews, maintains equipment, and helps prepare reports for Hill Air Force Base and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A bachelor’s degree in range management or related fields and field data experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor's degree in range management, wildlife biology, conservation biology and related fields.
  • Experience working with plants and animals and knowledge of plant and wildlife identification.
  • Performing data collection in harsh conditions safely.
  • Operating trucks on dirt roads and driving ATVs; ATV training and certification will need to be completed before field work.
  • A basic understanding of how to create year-end reports.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, record, and verify field data according to established protocols
  • Assist with wildlife surveys, environmental monitoring, and related field activities
  • Enter, organize, maintain, and quality-check field data and records
  • Maintain databases, spreadsheets, equipment inventories, and other project systems
  • Prepare data and summaries for analysis, reporting, and project partners
  • Assist with training, assigning, supervising, and coordinating field crews
  • Maintain, inspect, organize, and prepare field equipment and supplies
  • Support project reports, documentation, and general administrative needs
