Job summary

RTI International is seeking part-time Field Interviewers to support the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). You will contact households, conduct interviews, and emphasize the importance of participation in this government-sponsored study.

The role requires self-motivation, strong communication, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and variable schedules. Training and travel may be required across locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Fluent English reading/writing/speaking.
• Available for training and data collection period.
• Able to complete training successfully.
• Valid US driver’s license and reliable vehicle for business use.
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet and laptop.
• Access to password-protected Wi‑Fi for data transmissions.
• Confidential handling of project information.
• Willingness to work in various weather and after dark.
• Regular access to a computer with webcam or internet-enabled device with front camera.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 13 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Travel frequently to locations to recruit study participants.
• Make in-person contact to discuss the study and obtain participation.
• Approach households without a prior appointment.
• Adhere to schedule set by Field Supervisor for contact times.
• Administer computer-assisted interviews and confidential questionnaires.
• Manage administrative duties and trainings.
• Transmit data as scheduled.
• Safeguard equipment and participant incentives.
• Submit timely Time & Expense reports.
• Attend scheduled virtual meetings with project team and field supervisor.
• Participate in field observations by RTI/clients.
• Maintain required system updates for project equipment.
