General Description:
This is a part-time instructional assignment in the Noncredit Department at Merced College under the general direction of the Dean of Adult Education and Noncredit. The maximum teaching load is 10 units per semester, which may include evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities
  • Provide innovative and effective instruction in accordance with current pedagogy and established course outlines and expectations
  • Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policies and maintain regular and substantive contact with students
  • Maintain and submit required student attendance and scholastic records on the Learning Management System (e.g. grades and syllabi)
  • Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver, prepare, and grade class assignments and examinations
  • Maintain and utilize effective skills in instructional design, applications, and methods
  • Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
  • Participate in the development and review of curriculum
  • Participate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materials
  • Participate in departmental, area, and campus professional activities/committees
  • Represent the college within the Merced community and within professional circles
  • Participate in the college's learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments to continually improve student learning outcomes
Typical Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education OR
  • Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR
  • Bachelor's degree in economics with a business emphasis AND Master's degree in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR
  • Bachelor's degree AND two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught OR
  • Associate's degree AND six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught OR
  • Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authoring instruction in the subject matter OR
  • For course in an occupation for which the district offers or has offered apprenticeship instruction, the minimum qualifications for noncredit apprenticeship instructors in that occupation, as specified in title 5 section 53413
  • Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting duties, staff shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues.

Preferred:

  • Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments.

Employee Benefits: Sick leave, part-time faculty employed on an hourly basis shall earn sick leave credit at the rate of one hour for every twenty hours of paid service.
