Job summary

PCC Portland Community College is seeking a part-time faculty member for the Machine Manufacturing Technology Department at the Sylvania Campus. Job description

Position Overview

Part‑time faculty position in the Machine Manufacturing Technology Department at Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus. Applicants will be considered for substitute and full‑term class assignments during the academic year. This posting is an interest pool; the department will select candidates when course needs arise.

Instructor Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses in machine manufacturing technology, including lectures and laboratory work.

Instructor Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science or equivalent degree in Machine Manufacturing Technology or a related field, or completion of a formal training program in machining (e.g., 4‑year journeyman apprenticeship, or 2‑+ year technical trade school).
  • Minimum five years of recent industry experience using at least four of the following machine tools:
    • Sawing machines
    • Turning machines
    • Milling machines
    • Drilling machines
    • Grinding machines
    • Computer‑numerical‑control (CNC) machines (turning center or machining center)
  • Where applicable, teaching experience may substitute for industry experience: 1.5 years of teaching counts as 1 year of industry experience.
  • Related instruction requirements (if applicable):
    • College‑level algebra on college transcript for Computation in MCH 120 and 280.
    • College‑level trigonometry on college transcript for Computation in MCH 130 and 272.
    • Supervisory experience (documented) for Communication in MCH 130, 272 and 280.
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rates begin at Step1 of the current salary schedule and are determined by course type (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab). Eligible part‑time faculty may qualify for Oregon sick leave and retirement savings plans. More details are available at pcc.edu/hr/benefits.
