PCC Portland Community College invites qualified candidates for a part-time faculty role in the Geography department. This is an interest pool; specific courses will be assigned as needs arise throughout the academic year.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Geography or a related field and at least 30 graduate hours in Geography. Knowledge of geographic concepts and teaching experience is preferred.

The role includes eligibility for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement plans, and residency in Oregon or Washington is required.

Portland Community College is inviting qualified candidates to be considered for part‑time teaching assignments in the Geography department. This is an interest pool; specific courses will be assigned as needs arise throughout the academic year.

Eligibility

• Residency requirement: Applicants must be able to establish residency in Oregon or Washington.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geography or a related field (GIS, Forestry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Anthropology/Archaeology, Economics, History, Political Science, Geology, Engineering, Public Health, Architecture, Earth or Physical Sciences, Conservation Science, or other similar disciplines).
• At least 30 graduate semester hours in Geography (details for course‑specific requirements available on the Geographic Instructor Qualifications page).
• Knowledge of physical and cultural geography.
• Experience teaching Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferred, ideally at the community‑college level.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rates based on the current salary schedule; starting at Step1.
• Eligibility for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans through PCC.
