Job description

Part‑time Faculty Opportunity – Landscape Technology

Portland Community College is accepting applications for a part‑time faculty interest pool for Landscape Technology courses at the Rock Creek Campus. The position is not a specific open posting but an interest pool from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the academic year. Substitute and full‑term class assignments may be considered.

Applicants must reside in Oregon or Washington and be able to establish residence in either state. Reasonable accommodation for the hiring process will be provided as needed.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Construction, Landscape Management, Turf Management, Biology, Botany, Vocational Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of four years of relevant industry experience.
• Associate’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of five years of relevant industry experience.
• Equivalently high level of demonstrable competency through a combination of student or teaching experience, professional performance, or licensing or certification from the Landscape Contractor’s Board, the International Society of Arboriculture, or the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
• Official transcripts of relevant degrees must be submitted within two weeks of offer date.
• Transcripts from foreign institutions must be evaluated by an agency recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Benefits & Compensation

Part‑time faculty may be eligible for certain benefits such as Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans. Newly hired part‑time faculty generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule; hourly rates are determined by course type—Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab.
