Job description

Part‑Time Faculty – Engineering (Sylvania Campus)

Portland Community College is accepting applications for a part‑time faculty interest pool in engineering at the Sylvania Campus. The department will review the pool and assign faculty to substitute or full‑term classes as needs arise.

Qualifications

Faculty may qualify as engineering instructors through one of the following options:

• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Master’s degree in physical science or mathematics AND at least 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering AND registration as a Professional Engineer
• Demonstrated competency in specific courses (see Engineering Instructor Qualifications page)

Official transcripts for the required degrees must be submitted within two weeks of the offer.

As a new part‑time faculty employee, you may be eligible for benefits such as Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.

Compensation is based on the type of course taught; new hires generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.
