Position Summary:

A-State invites applications for qualified, experienced part-time faculty. Part-time instructors are hired to teach on a per course basis. Each academic term may present the need to hire new or additional Adjunct Instructors. This position may require day, evening, face-to-face, or online instruction. This position is part-time and as an adjunct will be limited to teaching a maximum contact hours of 28 hours per week. Under general supervision, adjuncts will plan and implement curriculum for assigned course(s); effectively communicate class content to students in an online or face-to-face environment; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; assist in retention efforts

Duties & Responsibilities:

This posting is open for continued recruitment of individuals seeking employment for this position.This pool position allows applicants to be considered for every adjunct position that becomes available.

• Support and enhance DNP students in developing inter-professional and intra-professional skills, doctoral writing skills, and leadership skills in conducting the DNP project and its associated project paper. These attributes will be developed within the construct of course guidelines.


• Maintain rigor of the DNP project by ensuring scholarly and doctoral writing, appropriate literature references, and reviews. Assuring the project is multi-dimensional, is education, and/or quality improvement, or safety oriented all while using APA standards.


• Mentor the student in developing and applying the principles of business, finance, economics, and/or policy initiatives as it relates to their DNP project topic


• Review and give feedback on sections of their DNP papers prior to the grade that is required for coursework. Mentor students in developing the critical thinking skills of a doctoral student while they are developing and advancing their skills in research and scholarly writing.


• Review and give feedback on student’s IRB applications prior to the student’s submission for a grade and submission to the IRB.


• Mentoring on how to professionally disseminate DNP project results in different venues


• Assure all DNP projects remain evidence-based with appropriate evidence-based references.


• Keep open communication with the course instructor and the program director regarding the progress of the students being mentored


• Mentors in the DNP project process including critical and systematic process of the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice.


• Holds a terminal degree in Nursing.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods and evaluation technique and use of technology utilized in higher education in a classroom setting. Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents

The duties are performed during standard work hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a predefined and approved work location. Individuals filling this role must have a dedicated workspace that provides privacy and security related to the work being performed. Additionally, individuals must have secure internet access with appropriate upload/download capabilities to perform the duties associated with the position. Individuals in this position will be required to review and acknowledge the Telecommuting Guidelines and Telecommuting Agreement for A-State. The ASU System limits adjunct faculty employment to a maximum of nine (9) total credit hours per academic semester across all ASU System institutions combined. Adjunct employees may not exceed this limit through appointments at multiple ASU System campuses. It is the responsibility of the employee to disclose all current and anticipated adjunct assignments within the ASU System to ensure compliance with this policy. Failure to comply with this limitation may result in modification or termination of adjunct appointments. Location Requirement: To be considered for this position, candidates must reside in Arkansas or a state that shares a border with Arkansas (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, or Oklahoma. This residency requirement supports team collaboration, regional knowledge, and occasional in-person engagement as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in nursing, DNP preferred Academic and professional teaching experience within the teaching content.
