Position Summary:

A-State invites applications for qualified, experienced adjunct teaching faculty. Adjunct Instructors are hired to teach on a per course basis. Each academic term may present the need to hire new or additional Adjunct Instructors. This position may require day, evening, face to face or online instruction. This position is part-time and, as an adjunct, will be limited to teaching a maximum of 9 hours at all system campuses.

Under general supervision, Adjuncts will plan and implement curriculum for assigned course(s); effectively communicate class content to students in an online or fa-to-o face environment; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; assist in retention efforts

Duties & Responsibilities:

This posting is open for continued recruitment of individuals seeking employment for this position.This pool position allows applicants to be considered for every adjunct position that becomes available.

• Provide clinical supervision and evaluation for MSN/PMC/GC students during their practicum experiences.
• Assess student performance through assignments, evaluations, and possible site visits.
• Serve as a professional role model while promoting professional and ethical behavior.
• Ensure adherence to university policies, academic standards, and regulatory guidelines. Participate in course and program meetings as needed.
• Support and enhance nurse practitioner students in developing inter-professional and intra-professional skills, MSN writing skills, and leadership skills. These attributes will be done within the construct of course guidelines.
• Maintain rigor of the MSN option by assuring scholarly writing, appropriate literature references and reviews. Assuring the assignments are multi-dimensional, and safety oriented all while using 7th edition APA standards.
• Grade assignments per rubrics in a timely manner offering constructive and adequate feedback.
• Responds to students within 48 -72 business hours. Complete onsite and virtual site visits as deemed necessary for assigned NP practicums.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with preceptors by providing clear communication, offering guidance on student learning objectives, addressing concerns promptly, and supporting a collaborative teaching environment that enhances student clinical experiences.
• Keep open communication with the course instructor, program director, and clinical coordinator regarding the progress of the students’ growth and development. Demonstrated proficiency in using Canvas, learning management system (LMS), to facilitate online and hybrid instruction, grade assignments, and communicate effectively with students.
• Engages in continuing education activities
• Holds a graduate degree and national certification in the nurse practitioner specialty area relevant to the course being taught.
• Adjunct faculty must have a minimum of two years’ experience within their specialty area.

Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods and evaluation technique and use of technology utilized in higher education in a classroom setting.

This position is designated as a hybrid position, requiring a combination of on-campus and remote work. The employee will be expected to work on campus as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, attend meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and provide services to students, faculty, staff, or other university constituents. Remote work may be permitted on designated days with prior approval from the supervisor and in accordance with applicable university policies. The hybrid work arrangement is subject to the needs of the department and may be modified or discontinued based on operational requirements, performance, or changes in university policy. Individuals in this position will be required to review and acknowledge the Telecommuting Guidelines and Telecommuting Agreement for A-State.

The ASU System limits adjunct faculty employment to a maximum of nine (9) total credit hours per academic semester across all ASU System institutions combined. Adjunct employees may not exceed this limit through appointments at multiple ASU System campuses. It is the responsibility of the employee to disclose all current and anticipated adjunct assignments within the ASU System to ensure compliance with this policy. Failure to comply with this limitation may result in modification or termination of adjunct appointments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Nurses serving as assistant clinical instructors in a graduate nursing program shall have a degree at or above the type of education program offered.

Licensure (or eligible) as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Arkansas or an approved state for NP programs

Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a national certifying body for NP programs

Minimum of two years of experience within the specialty area
