Job summary

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services is seeking a part-time Chef to join our Phoenix program. The role focuses on maintaining on-site kitchen operations, inventory, safety, and meal preparation per a dietitian-approved menu.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, updating menus weekly, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Requires a High School diploma with 2 years of relevant experience or an associate degree, plus Food Handlers and Servsafe credentials, and Arizona driver’s

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 2 years of experience as an assistant facility cook, or an associate degree or equivalent in food preparation.
• Food Handlers card required.
• Servsafe Certification highly preferred.
• Must have own transportation and a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the kitchen according to licensure standards and health regulations.
• Meal preparation per menu approved by a licensed dietitian.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, and coolers.
• Interface with staff on special dietary needs; follow doctor-recommended diets.
• Conduct weekly inventories to ensure accurate ordering and minimize waste.
• Manage a reasonable food budget in the ordering process.
• Participate in menu planning and kitchen discussions.
• Post weekly menus with date in dining area.
• Prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) for on-site clients.
• Adhere to food safety guidelines (handwashing, temp control, labeling, dating, rotation).
• Keep storage areas clean with proper shelving and discard dates for potentially hazardous foods.
