Job summary

New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is seeking a part-time Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Associate to maintain our Mahwah, NJ headquarters. You will work 7–14 hours per week, coordinating with staff and volunteers to keep the facility safe and functional.

The role requires basic mechanical and carpentry skills; plumbing or electrical skills are a plus. You will collaborate with contractors and manage the external cleaning vendor as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical and carpentry skills.
• Plumbing and/or electrical skills are a plus.
• Comfortable working with staff, volunteers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks (filters, batteries, outdoor faucets, geothermal readings).
• Identify repair needs and perform small repairs; outsource when needed with coordinator approval.
• Inspect supply closets, crawl space, and building mechanicals weekly.
