Job summary

Indiana Historical Society is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support maintenance operations in Indianapolis. This part-time role (up to 20 hours/week) offers flexible scheduling and weekend/evening event support as needed.

You will perform light maintenance, cleaning, grounds care, and assist with event setup and tear-down, including moving equipment and handling tasks that require climbing or lifting.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn small engine equipment.
• Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to flex schedule for seasonal needs—working evenings, early mornings, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform light maintenance and/or repairs like painting and changing bulbs.
• Perform routine cleaning.
• Provide basic landscape and grounds care.
• Move equipment and large parcels throughout the facility.
• Assist with program/event set-up, clean-up, and tear-down.
