Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Facilities Generalist to join the facility operations team. You will perform building and campus maintenance, assist with event setup and takedown, and help with cleaning and grounds care.

Reporting to the Manager of Implementation and Maintenance, you will work on a variety of trades and learn new techniques, with opportunities for growth while supporting DEAI commitments.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in industrial or large public facility housekeeping, grounds, or maintenance.
• Willingness to learn and grow.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Ability to work holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Ability to vary schedule to cover museum operations.
• Experience with cleaning/landscaping equipment or maintenance tools preferred.
• Ability to use telephone, written records, computer systems, and two-way radios.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, cleaning, and care of building and campus.
• Assist with setup, transport, and takedown of equipment for events.
• Assist with trash/waste collection and outside grounds maintenance including snow removal.
• Conduct daily inspections and report concerns.
• Assist skilled labor with painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and carpentry; may use a lift.
• Care for the historic carousel.
• Safely operate handheld power equipment and tools.
